NIPI supports a range of extension and adoption activities that are designed to train grains industry personnel in IPM approaches that will reduce costs and enhance farm sustainability. The capacity of growers to effectively manage insect pests and adopt IPM is currently constrained by a lack of suitable tools and confidence in alternative approaches.
NIPI aims to enhance research capacity for the support of grain producers. This is achieved through a more co-ordinated research effort for current pest issues and enhanced capacity for a rapid response to emerging threats.
NIPI supports a collaborative network of students, scientists and extension personnel involved in IPM related work. An annual symposium is held to co-ordinate research projects, identify knowledge-gaps, and prioritise emerging pest issues.
